Graduates return to inspire next generation of women

Year 12 students at Caroline Chisholm College had full hearts and full bellies after the annual Careers High Tea. The school welcomed back six alumnae from the Classes of 2000-2022 to act as role models and mentors for the younger generation.

Our Year 9 Food Technology students have been getting creative with their Food for Special Occasions unit! They’ve been busy making delicious Pavlova Grazing Boxes – the perfect treat to help make any Australia Day BBQ or Christmas lunch extra special.

Year 7 Technology students had a hands-on learning experience at the farm today, tending to their thriving garden bed. With board beans, corn, sorrel, parsley, cherry tomatoes and even a few sunflowers flourishing, students were excited to see all their hard work coming to life! They also had time to have a quick cuddle with our friendly resident hen, Pepper!

In our milestone 50th anniversary year, we were thrilled to welcome back six incredible alumnae for our exclusive Year 12 Careers High Tea. These accomplished women returned to mentor and inspire the next generation of Chisholm graduates, as they prepare to embark on their own career journeys. Our esteemed guests included local interior designer and business owner, Blaire Marchand; Exercise Physiologist, Isabella La Malfa; Clinique and Aveda General Manager, Corinne Duffy; experienced nurse, Alana Blowers; and Ray White Sales Associate Ava Musumeci. We were also honored to have former College Captain and ABC News multi platform journalist, Chantelle Al-Khouri, as our keynote speaker. Chantelle captivated the audience with her story of determination, persistence and passion, showcasing how she achieved her career goals and aspirations. The event featured a dynamic and engaging panel discussion, where our guests shared insights on their motivations, strengths and work ethic. Students then engaged in personalised breakout sessions, giving them a unique chance to delve deeper into their own aspirations. A heartfelt thank you to our returning alumnae for sharing your stories and wisdom - your impact on shaping our Year 12 students’ futures is truly invaluable and greatly appreciated! Just one more sleep to go! Final preparations are underway for tomorrow's exclusive Year 12 Careers High Tea. We are thrilled to welcome six of our accomplished alumnae from a variety of fields including news media, nursing and midwifery, exercise and sports physiology, interior design, real estate, marketing and business. They will participate in an engaging panel discussion before leading smaller breakout sessions, where students can have more personalised conversations about their future career paths. We can’t wait for the big day!

Our Careers and Pathways education program continues in homeroom wellbeing lessons for Years 7, 9, 10, and 12! The theme this term is "Where am I going, and how do I get there?" with students diving deep into visualising their future selves and exploring what their career pathways might look like. They'll then be identifying their support networks (allies) and learning how these connections can help guide and mentor them on their journey. Through these action-focused activities featuring resources from Study Work Grow, students are already setting steps toward achieving their goals. The future is bright, and we're so excited to see where our students' aspirations take them!

Our College community observed a minute's silence today to remember and honour all those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peace-keeping operations with the Australian military. On Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November staff and students will pray for Australia's military personnel both past and present. Remembrance Day is a time to acknowledge all those who died or suffered for Australia's causes in all wars and armed conflicts. We will stop at 11am as a College community.
